Feedback from the Mayor’s Meeting:

Mayor Chirico currently is not able to join the Commissioners group that is planning a trip to Nitra, Slovakia in April 2017. Dr. Bob McBride, Neuqua Valley HS-Principal, is excited to bring connection to Naperville through the planned Nitra trip. Details will continue to be developed.

Fire Chief and Police Chief are being invited by Mayor Chirico.

Kevin Gallaher remains as our liaison from the City Council to the SC Commission.

Mayor Chirico encouraged the Commission to plan for our 25 year anniversary of Sister City relationship with Nitra, Slovakia and develop a financial plan to accompany it.

Finalize 2017 Strategy:

North Central College, NCC, liaison is willing to discuss how to partner on a new event.

“Alive Center” Mariel- diversity focus – good connection potentially to the NC

Nitra Trip:

There are 6-7 Commissioners (with spouses will mean approximately 10-11) who are excited about attending Nitra, Slovakia in April 2017. Jack N. shared that this means we have critical mass. There is meeting next week at 7pm on October 26 at a location to be determined.

Jack reached out to Gail at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church who has traveled to Nitra on a number of occasions for mission and exchange trips.

Young Artist Contest 2017:

Patty L. has volunteered for consistency to lead the preparation for the event again in 2017. Two volunteers were requested to join Patty to optimize the project and build a set of people with experience with this project. Nakhil, President of Art Club, NVHS, and Mariel will take the program back to their respective high schools to foster participation. ACT-SO could be a source of Naperville high school students to enter the contest.

Photography, essay and film are other categories in which high school students could participate.

Meeting Adjournment:

Chris Monovich motioned to adjourn. Rena T. seconded.
