As ComEd moves forward with its plans to build a major transmission line on the south end of the Elgin O’Hare corridor, the largest electric utility in the state will host an open house 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11, at Itasca Village Hall.
ComEd plans to build a line to connect the substation at Prospect and Thorndale Roads and a substation in the Bartlett area. The overall goal of the project, which has an estimated price tag of over $50 million, is to improve service reliability in the far western suburbs of the region.
The current plan would require construction of towers along the south side of the Elgin O’Hare corridor, directly through Itasca. Village leaders have voiced a number of concerns over the project, including issues related to proximity of the pole towers to residents and businesses, as well as aesthetics and noise pollution. The Village of Itasca invites its residents and business owners to attend the open house to learn more about the West Central Reliability Project and to voice any concerns.
