U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren (R-Dist. 14) received a “Champion of Healthcare Innovation” award late last week from the Healthcare Leadership Council (HLC), a group of executives from U.S. health care companies and groups.
Hultgren was given the award at the group's annual Healthcare Innovations Expo on Capitol Hill, during which innovations in health care treatments, technologies and practices are exhibited. This year’s featured exhibits included cutting-edge treatment options for mental illness, innovative technologies in blood-glucose monitoring and telehealth systems to ensure physicians can be accessed by patients at any hour of any day
“As we strive to conquer illness, elevate population health and make our health care system more affordable and sustainable, the answer lies in dynamic and continual innovation,” Healthcare Leadership Council President Mary Grealy said. “For this to happen, we need federal policies that encourage progress and new breakthroughs in care. We applaud Representative Hultgren for the leadership, vision and commitment that patients and health care consumers need.”
