Winfield among 157 Illinois cities tied for 81st in June for scam reports
Winfield was one of 157 cities tied for 81st among 237 Illinois cities with at least one BBB Scam Tracker report in June 2026, recording one scam report for the month, according to Better Business Bureau.
No scam reports were recorded for the city in the previous month.
BBB Scam Tracker lets consumers search reported scams and share their experiences to help others spot similar schemes. The BBB says it reviews each report before publication and does not publicly display the reporter’s name or personal contact information.
Nationwide, fraud has continued to produce large financial losses. The Federal Trade Commission said consumers reported losing more than $12.5 billion to fraud in 2024, a 25% increase from the previous year.
