State Rep. Kathleen Willis (D-Dist. 77) wants residents to know about the 10th Annual National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday.
“I personally have been faced with the dilemma of figuring out what to do with old prescriptions.” Willis said. “While many people know not to throw them in the trash or flush them down the toilet, it can be difficult to find out how to get rid of them safely and easily.”
National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is an annual event during which Illinois residents are provided with local drop-off locations to dispose of old prescription drugs.
“I hope that people in our community can take advantage of this opportunity to dispose of their old medications that are collecting dust on their cabinets and shelves,” Willis said. “If anyone has any questions or concerns about their drop-off site or any other concern, they can contact my constituent-services office at any time.”
Willis also has supported a new law that would launch a statewide medication take-back program by June 1, 2016, as part of her ongoing efforts to ensure that area residents can responsibly dispose of old prescription medication.
