An open house hosted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to present the new digital Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) and Flood Insurance Study (FIS) for DuPage County and incorporated areas will be held July 29.
The open house is scheduled from 4-7 p.m. at the DuPage County Government Center, Jack T. Knuepfer Building Auditorium, 421 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton.
Realtors, insurance agents, developers, lending institution representatives and DuPage residents who live in or near areas of special flood hazards are encouraged to attend.
During the open house, FEMA representatives will review the DuPage County mapping project, present the preliminary FIS report and FIRM panels, discuss the process of reviewing and adopting the documents, and solicit public comments.
The study provides new and modified base flood elevations, special flood hazard area boundaries, floodway boundaries and flood insurance zone designations.
