State Sen. Dan Kotowski (D- Park Ridge) recently encouraged investors to consider Illinois after the Senate passed its budget, with specific requests made for education, public safety, public services and career training.
“This budget is a moral document that reflects a commitment to investing in the people of Illinois,” Kotowski said. “We are investing in public safety, affordable higher education for middle-class families, job training and services for seniors and developmentally disabled children.”
Kotowski said these kinds of investments would benefit all of the communities within Illinois.
“Supporting a budget that slashes dollars for policemen and firefighters, forces seniors out of their homes and into nursing homes, and eliminates services for children with epilepsy and autism is not a good investment for our state,” he said. “It may save a few dollars today, but taxpayers will pay exponentially more in the long run.
“We hope the governor embraces our commitment to the investments laid out in these proposals and secures the resources necessary,” Kotowski said. “I look forward to an open, transparent discussion about our needs to invest in these vital services.”
