The Village of Hanover Park has hired a new director of public works and engineering.
Thomas Moore, who has 16 years of public works experience, will assume the position April 20. He is currently director of public works for the City of DeKalb, where his responsibilities include oversight of street operations, transportation planning, code enforcement, facilities, building inspection services and a municipal airport. During his tenure in DeKalb, he was responsible for the construction of a new police headquarters and significant water main improvements.
Prior to his work in DeKalb, he served as director of public works for the Village of East Dundee and as assistant director in Lake in the Hills. Noteworthy projects during his tenures include doubling of the capacity of the East Dundee Wastewater Treatment Plant from 1.25 to 2.5 million gallons per day, along with drilling two new potable water wells to service the needs to the community.
Moore, who grew up in Elgin and South Elgin, holds a bachelor's degree in political science and a master’s in public administration from Northern Illinois University He is married and has three young children.
