NEA grant to Elgin Symphony Orchestra announced by Rep. Duckworth

Tammy

U.S. Rep. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) recently announced that the National Endowment of the Arts (NEA) awarded a $10,000 grant to the Elgin Symphony Orchestra Association in Elgin, Ill.

The grant will be used to support an artist residency by cellist Lynn Harrell and will include public lectures, a master class for students in the community and performances with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra.

“I am proud that the Elgin Symphony Orchestra is receiving this grant,” Duckworth said. “One of the strengths of our community is its tremendous talent in the arts. This NEA grant will help my neighbors learn and benefit from the artistic contributions of Lynn Harrell. The taxpayers of Illinois contribute more than their fair share to the federal government, and I am pleased to see that resources are coming back to the 8th Congressional District."
