Statewide test results: 31 percent of Gordon Gregory failed English language arts
About 69 percent of Gordon Gregory Middle School students passed annual English language arts assessments in 2018 and 31 percent of students failed, according to a DuPage Policy Journal analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.
The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers, or PARCC, is administered to third- through eighth-graders in Illinois, testing them in reading and math based on Common Core standards.
According to Gordon Gregory Middle School English language scores, about 52 percent met expectations and 17 percent exceeded them. Students whose results are in either category are considered to be most ready to move on to the next level and are most prepared for college or work.
Another 22 percent approached expectations, while 6 percent partially met expectations and 3 percent did not meet them. Students who scored in these categories are not ready for the next level of schooling, according to the test.
Test results at Gordon Gregory Middle School, which enrolled 896 students in 2018, surpassed state averages.
Statewide, 37 percent of students passed the test and 63 percent failed.
Of students statewide who passed, only six percent 'exceeded' expectations.
