Q3 2020 Recap: 2 parolees from Will County convicted of sex crimes set for release

There were two offenders convicted of sex crimes released on parole in Will County during the third quarter of 2020, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the DuPage Policy Journal.

The data shows that both of the released offenders among the parolees were men. The median age of the parolees sentenced for sex crimes was 39. The younger parolee was a 30-year-old man sentenced in 2008, and the oldest was a 48-year-old man sentenced in 2010.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Mario Rubio. He was convicted in 2008 when he was 18 years old. He is now 30.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
