Q2 2019 Recap: Parolees in Aurora convicted of crimes involving weapons
There were seven offenders convicted of crimes involving weapons released on parole in Aurora during the second quarter, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the DuPage Policy Journal.
The data shows that seven men were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for crimes involving weapons was 30. The youngest parolee was a 23-year-old man sentenced in 2019, and the oldest was a 44-year-old man sentenced in 2017.
The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Manuel Orteaga. He was convicted of a crime involving one or more weapons in 2017 when he was 41 years old. He is now 44.
Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
