Oakbrook Terrace FPD responds to nine fires in 2017

Oakbrook Terrace Fire Protection District responded to 136 calls in 2017 - 13.9 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Oakbrook Terrace included nine fires - four structure fires, three vehicle fires and two other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $6,200 in fire loss - or about $689 per fire.

The department also received 126 false calls, including four malicious calls and 122 other false calls.

The Oakbrook Terrace Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $2,137,965 in 2017.

The Oakbrook Terrace Fire Protection District, which has three active employees and four retired or inactive employees, was $10,720 in debt as of May 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $3,573 for every fire in 2016.
