North Central's Elizabeth Rosenstiel named CCIW women's wrestling student-athlete of the week
North Central College freshman Elizabeth Rosenstiel has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Wrestling Student-Athlete of the Week after a strong performance on the mat.
Rosenstiel, competing in the 160-pound weight class, finished her week with a 5-0 record. She did not allow any points in her five matches and secured four early wins by fall or technical fall. Her efforts contributed to North Central's success in dual meets and at the Elmhurst Invitational.
On Thursday, Rosenstiel helped North Central sweep both Elmhurst and NAIA No. 1 Life. In the CCIW dual against Elmhurst, she achieved a 10-0 technical fall over Lily Avalos as part of North Central’s 45-2 team victory.
At Sunday’s Elmhurst Invitational, Rosenstiel advanced to the championship bout with three consecutive pins. She started with a fall in 2:41 against Taylor Schulz from Wisconsin-Stevens Point, followed by pinning Jalah Wilson from Lakeland in 4:25, and then defeating Lily Avalos from Elmhurst in 1:48 during the semifinals.
In the finals, Rosenstiel won an 8-0 decision over Amerrah Kayon from Wisconsin-Stevens Point to claim the individual title at 160 pounds. Her results also helped North Central secure first place as a team with a total of 162 points.
