July-Dec. 2018 Recap: Parolees in Wheaton convicted of drug crimes
There were two offenders convicted of drug crimes released on parole in Wheaton during the second half of 2018, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the DuPage Policy Journal.
The data shows that both of the released offenders in Wheaton were men. The younger parolee was a 24-year-old man sentenced in 2018. The other was a 37-year-old man sentenced in 2014.
The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Francis J. Tompkinson. He was convicted of a crime involving drugs in 2014 when he was 32 years old. He is now 37.
Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
