Illinois introduces digital driver’s licenses for Apple Wallet by end of 2025

Illinois residents will soon have the ability to access their driver's licenses and state IDs through digital wallets, following the passage of legislation in the Illinois House of Representatives (HB4592). This initiative will initially be available via Apple Wallet by the end of 2025, with plans to extend it to other platforms like Google Wallet in the future. The new feature is designed to allow users to securely store and use their IDs on an iPhone or Apple Watch. Illinois joins ten other states that already offer digital IDs.
