Glen Ellyn FD responds to 45 fires in 2018
Glen Ellyn Fire District responded to 412 calls in 2018 - 38.7 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.
The calls in Glen Ellyn included 45 fires - 24 structure fires, eight vehicle fires and 13 other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.
In all, the department saw $1,843,100 in fire loss - or about $40,958 per fire.
The department also received 366 false calls, including 18 malicious calls and 348 other false calls.
The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related injury and two civilian fire-related deaths.
