Cost of college went up for all students at Wheaton College

Tuition and fees rose 3.3 percent for 2017-18 at Wheaton College, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

Illinois students paid $35,190 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year $1,140 more than the $34,050 charged for 2016-17.

Data shows 87 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 486 students received grants or scholarships totaling $8.43 million and 319 students took out student loans totaling more than $2.27 million.

Including all undergraduates, 1,850 students used grants or scholarships totaling $32.64 million. Another 1,230 took out $8.03 million in federal student loans.
