Cost of college went up for all students at Universal Technical Institute of Illinois Inc

Tuition and fees rose 2 percent for 2017-18 at Universal Technical Institute of Illinois Inc, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

Illinois students paid $44,150 to attend the two-year private for-profit institution this year $850 more than the $43,300 charged for 2016-17.

Data shows 92 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 423 students received grants or scholarships totaling $1.8 million and 489 students took out student loans totaling more than $4.25 million.

Including all undergraduates, 1,061 students used grants or scholarships totaling $3.85 million. Another 1,091 took out $7.42 million in federal student loans.
