Officers with the Bloomingdale Police Department reported handling 746 offenses in 2024, as shown in the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS).

This amounts to an average of two offenses per day in 2024.

Shoplifting represented the most frequently reported crime in the NIBRS data, reaching 182 cases during 2024.

The NIBRS was established to offer deeper insight and context for crime statistics. The earlier system would record only the most severe offense per incident. For instance, in a case involving homicide, aggravated assault and theft, only the homicide would be tracked in the official records.

Law enforcement agencies at local, state and federal levels use NIBRS to monitor crime.
