Woodridge hosts 12 licensed child care facilities in 2025

In 2025, Woodridge was home to 12 licensed child care facilities, according to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.

These included 6 day care centers (50%), 5 group day care homes (41.7%), and 1 family child care home (8.3%).

Woodridge providers care for children from infancy up to age 12, including infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced Jan. 6 that it froze specific federal child care and family assistance funds for California, Colorado, Minnesota, New York and Illinois because of concerns about fraud and improper use. The freeze affects nearly $2.4 billion in Child Care and Development Fund grants, $7.35 billion in Temporary Assistance for Needy Families funds and $869 million in Social Services Block Grants, requiring states to submit documentation before payments are approved.

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker called the federal action “wrong and cruel” and said Illinois may consider legal challenges, emphasizing that the state has existing anti-fraud measures.

State officials report the freeze could affect approximately 100,000 families and more than 152,000 children receiving support through the Child Care Assistance Program, in addition to funding for thousands of child care providers and 275 human service organizations across Illinois.
