Winfield FPD responds to 18 fires in 2017

Winfield Fire Protection District responded to 166 calls in 2017 - 4.4 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Winfield included 18 fires - six structure fires, three vehicle fires and nine other fires.

In all, the department saw $44,600 in fire loss - or about $2,478 per fire.

The department also received 148 false calls, including two malicious calls and 146 other false calls.

The Winfield Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $2,833,333 in 2017.

The Winfield FPD Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 12 active employees and two retired or inactive employees, was $87,473 positive as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $3,645 for every fire in 2016.
