Will County officials report 309 coronavirus deaths, with 6,284 confirmed cases
There have been 6,284 confirmed coronavirus cases in Will County as of June 19, with 309 deaths linked to the virus, according to data from the state Department of Public Health (IDPH).
Chicago (50,277 cases) and Cook County (36,274 cases) posted the highest numbers statewide. Chicago's death toll from the virus stands at 2,481, while Cook County recorded 1,882 deaths, according to the IDPH.
Illinois residents who have been tested for COVID-19 now number 1,311,003, the department reported. And the age group with the most confirmed cases was 40 to 49, with 24,036 people in the age group testing positive for the virus.
Among all those testing positive in Illinois, 64,072 were male and 68,823 were female, the IDPH said. Male deaths linked to coronavirus numbered 3,599, while female deaths stood at 2,972.
Broken down according to race, the fatalities consisted of 2,916 Asians, 2,916 whites, 1,855 African-Americans, 1,331 Hispanics, and 162 belonging to other races or who did not provide their ethnicity before they died.
