Will County officials report 1,212 coronavirus deaths, with 109,073 confirmed cases
There have been 109,073 confirmed coronavirus cases in Will County as of December 20, with 1,212 deaths linked to the virus, according to data from the state Department of Public Health (IDPH).
Chicago (373,011 cases) and Cook County (363,933 cases) posted the highest numbers statewide. Chicago's death toll from the virus stands at 6,145, while Cook County recorded 5,606 deaths, according to the IDPH.
Illinois residents who have been tested for COVID-19 now number 42,607,495, the department reported. And the age group with the most confirmed cases was under 20, with 394,751 people in the age group testing positive for the virus.
Among all those testing positive in Illinois, 932,315 were male and 1,018,782 were female, the IDPH said. Male deaths linked to coronavirus numbered 14,821, while female deaths stood at 12,407.
Broken down according to race, the fatalities consisted of 16,889 whites, 4,959 African-Americans, 4,052 Hispanics, 894 Asians, and 434 belonging to other races or who did not provide their ethnicity before they died.
