Wheaton’s Soren Richardson named CCIW men’s basketball student-athlete of the week

Wheaton College basketball player Soren Richardson has been named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week. The announcement was made Monday after Richardson's performance in his first two conference games.

Richardson, a junior from Northfield, Minnesota, averaged 25.5 points per game last week. He shot 60 percent from the field across games against Augustana and Elmhurst, making 18 out of 30 shots. Over those two games, he played a total of 76 minutes and contributed 51 points, 10 rebounds, five steals, and four blocks.

In Wheaton's game against Augustana on Wednesday, Richardson scored 29 points during an 84-81 loss. He shot 11-of-17 from the field and made three out of seven attempts from three-point range. In that same game, he also recorded four steals and four blocks.

Richardson followed up with a performance against Elmhurst on Saturday where he scored 22 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and provided four assists in an 82-81 win for Wheaton. His shooting percentage in this game was just over 53 percent.

Other CCIW Men's Basketball Student-Athletes of the Week so far this season include Kolden Vanlandingham (North Park), Noah Cleveland (Illinois Wesleyan), Mike Vuckovic (North Park), and Lane Thomann (Millikin).
