Wheaton College junior guard Soren Richardson has been named the Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week by the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW). This is Richardson’s second time receiving this honor during the current season.

Richardson, who is from Northfield, Minnesota, played a key role in helping Wheaton secure two one-point conference wins last week. He averaged 23.5 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals per game over those contests and was perfect from the free-throw line, making all 11 attempts.

In Wednesday’s home game against Carroll, Wheaton won 85-84 with Richardson scoring a game-high 25 points. He also contributed five rebounds, two assists, and tied his career high with five steals while converting all eight of his free throws.

On Saturday against North Central, Richardson scored a buzzer-beating three-pointer to clinch a 72-71 victory after Wheaton overcame a 13-point deficit in the second half. He finished that game with 22 points and three assists.

Over the week, Richardson led his team in total points (47), field goals made (16), and steals (6).
