FOIA Request to Illinois Supreme Court Regarding State Agency Contracts with Vendors on March 24, 2025.
As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Illinois Supreme Court. This request seeks documentation and details concerning the fulfillment of contractual obligations for all contracts executed or modified between this state agency and their vendors during January of the 2023 fiscal year.
Our inquiry specifically targets records that verify the scope of work performed, deliverables completed, and any reports or evaluations related to these contracts. Access to such public records is crucial for us as members of the media in our role of holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency for the public.
We are also seeking a fee waiver based on our status as media professionals dedicated to gathering and reporting news. Additionally, we are affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization that assists news media companies and public advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws. This affiliation underscores our mission to pull back the curtain on government actions and help inform the American electorate.
