The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) has announced its Baseball Student-Athletes of the Week for games played from March 10 to March 16.
Joey Appino, a junior from Carroll University, was recognized as the Hitter of the Week. During the Pioneers’ trip to Pensacola, Florida, Appino achieved nine hits in four games, five of which were extra-base hits. He maintained a .600 batting average for the week and contributed eight RBIs and eight runs scored. Additionally, he stole three bases. Highlights include stealing two bases against Wisconsin-Whitewater last Wednesday, hitting a home run in a 12-0 victory over Edgewood on Thursday, and doubling twice in a 14-12 win over Wisconsin-Stout on Sunday.
Bryce Schaum, a senior at Carthage College, earned Pitcher of the Week honors after recording a career-high 16 strikeouts in a game against Crown last Thursday. This achievement marked the highest number of strikeouts by any Division III pitcher in 2025. Schaum pitched seven innings with only one walk and threw 104 pitches to secure his 12th career win.
