North Central College has been named the top team in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) preseason poll, presented by Hudl. The poll, released Monday morning, placed North Central first on all 51 ballots and gave the Cardinals a total of 1,275 points.
The Cardinals were also recently chosen as the preseason favorite in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW). Last month, North Central held the number one position in the D3football.com national preseason rankings.
Wheaton College ranked 17th in both this week’s AFCA poll and last month’s D3football.com poll, receiving 423 points from coaches.
Washington University in St. Louis received a single point in the AFCA poll but was not included among the ranked teams.
Mount Union was listed second in Monday’s rankings and is scheduled to host Wheaton on September 6. Johns Hopkins secured third place, with St. John’s and Susquehanna rounding out the top five.
