Rep. Sean Casten, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Illinois’ 6th district, has recently shared his views on several pressing issues via social media. Casten, who replaced Peter Roskam in 2019, addressed concerns related to civil rights, federal budget allocations, and the actions of the Trump Administration.

On March 11, 2025, Rep. Casten commented on a legal case involving Mahmoud Khalil. He expressed concern about potential violations of constitutional rights: "While I am still gathering information about Mahmoud Khalil’s case, detaining someone and threatening to revoke their legal immigration status without evidence of a crime—simply because you disagree with their beliefs—is a gross violation of the First Amendment."

Later that day, he criticized a House Republican appropriations resolution for cutting funding in key areas: "The House Republican appropriations resolution cuts funding for senior housing programs, veterans' health care, and election security." He argued that these cuts serve to empower figures like Donald Trump and Elon Musk.

On March 12, 2025, Casten highlighted feedback from his constituents regarding the impact of the Trump Administration's policies: "My office has been contacted by countless constituents who want to do everything they can to put an end to the fear, frustration, and confusion caused by the Trump Administration." He emphasized standing up for values such as the American Dream and the Constitution.
