The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) has announced the Men's Lacrosse Student-Athletes of the Week for performances during games played from March 3 to March 9.
Eli Spence, a junior from Elmhurst, received his second consecutive and third overall weekly award this season. He was recognized for his offensive contributions in the Bluejays’ narrow 14-13 victory against Oberlin. In that match, Spence scored four unassisted goals and provided two assists. His final goal secured a 14-12 lead, ultimately serving as the game-winning point. Additionally, he recorded two ground balls.
On the defensive side, Jake Gehl from Carroll was acknowledged for his efforts. The junior posted a goals-against average of 9.83 and a save percentage of .596 over two appearances last week. Gehl made a season-high 16 saves against MSOE on Thursday and contributed significantly to Carroll's first win over Edgewood with 12 saves throughout the full game duration. Over the week, Gehl faced a total of 84 shots.
For reference, past recipients of the Offensive Player of the Week award include Eli Spence on March 4 and February 18, along with Andrew Johnson from Carthage on February 25. Defensive honorees have included Noah Mickelson from Elmhurst on March 4, Colin Tervo from Illinois Wesleyan on February 25, and Chad Kohlmann from Carthage on February 18.
