Elmhurst wins inaugural CCIW women's indoor track & field championship

Elmhurst University secured its first CCIW Women’s Indoor Track & Field championship on Saturday at the Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The team achieved this milestone by winning five events and earning 160 points.

Alyssa Busker was a standout performer for Elmhurst, earning the title of CCIW Track Student-Athlete of the Meet after victories in the 55 meters and 200 meters. Tiana Grady won the 55 hurdles, Paulina Tinajero triumphed in the long jump, and the 4x400 relay team comprising Carmela Woods, Lauren Marshall, Sadie Hartman, and Busker also took first place. Chloe Selmer received recognition as First-Year Field Student-Athlete of the Meet with her second-place finish in the long jump.

The Bluejays' score of 160 points was noted as the highest at a CCIW meet since North Central's 184 points in 2019. Elmhurst’s coaching staff led by Director Jordan Bartolazzi was honored as CCIW Coaching Staff of the Year for their third award in four years.

North Central College finished second with 106.5 points and had a league-high number of All-CCIW performers at 22. Illinois Wesleyan came third with 77 points followed by Carthage with 70 points.

Thea Ring from North Park was named CCIW Field Student-Athlete of the Meet after winning first place in the pentathlon with a score of 3,711 points. De'Andranay Chism from Millikin earned honors as CCIW First-Year Track Student-Athlete of the Year for her performances across three events including a third-place finish in the 200 meters.
