State Representative Amy Grant from Wheaton, Illinois, issued a statement following the guilty verdict of former Illinois House Speaker Michael J. Madigan. Madigan was found guilty of conspiracy, bribery, and wire fraud.
"Today’s guilty verdict is a long-overdue victory for accountability in Illinois," stated Rep. Grant. "For decades, Michael Madigan controlled state government through corruption and backroom deals, putting personal gain ahead of the people he was elected to serve." She emphasized that this outcome confirms the need for stronger ethics laws in Illinois to prevent future abuses. "It’s time to restore honesty and integrity to state government," she added.
Rep. Grant is serving her fourth term in the General Assembly representing the 47th district, which includes communities such as Naperville, Warrenville, Glen Ellyn, Wheaton, Lisle, Carol Stream, Bartlett, West Chicago, Winfield, and Wayne.
