FOIA Request Sent to Lisle Community Unit School District 202 Regarding Emails and Memos on January 28, 2025

On January 28, 2025, a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Lisle Community Unit School District 202. The request, made by DuPage Policy Journal, sought access to all emails and memos from the past year containing the keywords "Lucy Calkins" and "Units of Study."

As a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at DuPage Policy Journal believe in the importance of transparency and accountability in public institutions. Access to these records will allow us to fulfill our professional responsibilities effectively.

The requested documents are expected to shed light on internal communications within the school district concerning "Lucy Calkins" and "Units of Study." As part of our ongoing efforts to provide accurate news coverage, we have requested these records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.

In addition to this request, it's important to note some key facts about education in Illinois. According to the Illinois Report Card, the average state teacher salary in 2023 was $73,916, while the state average administrative salary was $116,908. The average student-to-administrative ratio is 141:1, and the average student-to-teacher ratio is 17:1. Furthermore, it's worth noting that 58% of teachers in Illinois have a master's degree or higher.

As we continue our work at DuPage Policy Journal, we remain committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency for our readers. We look forward to sharing more information as it becomes available.
