FOIA Request Sent to Burr Ridge Community Consolidated School District 180 Regarding Non-U.S. Citizen Enrollment Numbers on January 13, 2025

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the Burr Ridge Community Consolidated School District 180 on January 13, 2025, by us at the DuPage Policy Journal. The request seeks to ascertain the number of non-U.S. citizens currently enrolled in the school district.

The FOIA request is part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. As a media organization, we believe in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. We have requested these records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, preferably in electronic format.

Our inquiry specifically asks for data on how many "migrants" (e.g., illegal aliens/non-U.S. citizens) are currently enrolled in the school district. This information is crucial as it will help shed light on demographic trends within our local education system and potentially highlight any challenges or opportunities that may arise from such a diverse student body.

According to the Illinois Report Card, the average state teacher salary in 2023 was $73,916, and the state average Administrative Salary was $116,908. The average student-to-administrative ratio is 141:1, and the average student-to-teacher ratio is 17:1. Interestingly, 58% of teachers in Illinois have a master's degree or higher.

As always, we are committed to bringing you accurate and timely information about our local schools and community. We await a response from Burr Ridge Community Consolidated School District 180 regarding our FOIA request and will share any updates as they become available.
