The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County invites local history enthusiasts to explore the rich past of Fullersburg Woods Forest Preserve during “Fullersburg Days” on August 10 and 11 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Graue Mill and Museum and the Fullersburg Woods Nature Education Center in Oak Brook.

“Fullersburg Days” aims to offer a blend of history, nature, and family-friendly activities. Visitors at this free open-house event can engage in fishing with cane poles, making dolls out of corn husks, guided nature and plant hikes, self-guided history walks, and tours of the historic Graue Mill featuring traditional corn-grinding demonstrations. S'mores kits will be available for purchase for $5 at the mill, where fire pits and roasting forks will be provided.

The Fullersburg Woods Nature Education Center will highlight the contributions of the Civilian Conservation Corps to the preserve’s development through a historic photograph display. A presentation about a wooly mammoth discovered in DuPage County will also be featured.

“‘Fullersburg Days’ is a great opportunity for folks to discover our heritage, explore the natural beauty of the area, and create fun memories,” said Jay Johnson, heritage site logistics manager for the Forest Preserve District.

For inquiries about the event, visitors can contact the nature education center at 630-850-8110.
