Springfield, IL – This week, Illinois State Representative Jennifer Sanalitro celebrated the passage of HB4966 through the Illinois House. The bill amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to allow a broader selection of specialty plates for motorcycles and autocycles.

Currently, motorcyclists in Illinois are limited to a small selection of specialty plates, unlike the more than 50 different options available for regular cars. This bill aims to provide motorcyclists the opportunity to choose from the same variety of specialty plates as car owners.

“This legislation will allow motorcyclists to express their individuality and support various causes, just like traditional vehicles can,” said Representative Sanalitro. “It’s a simple change that promotes fairness and personalization for all vehicle operators in Illinois.”

House Bill 4966 will enable motorcyclists to select specialty plates from the established selection already available for cars. The bill now heads to the Governor’s desk where it awaits his signature.
