City of Elmhurst Public Works & Buildings Committee met Feb. 12.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

1. Call to Order:

Ald. Bastedo called the meeting to order at 7:03p.m.

1A – Ald. Bram motioned to allow Ald. Bastedo to participate electronically, Ald. Sienko seconded.  Voice vote, motion carried 3-0.

2. Roll Call – Attendance: -

Present: Committee Members

Ald. Cahill

Ald. Bram

Ald. Sienko

Absent: None

Quorum Present: 4 present - 1 participated by phone (quorum) 

Also in attendance: Public Works Director Balicki

Asst. Public Works Director Tiberi

Asst. City Manager/City Engineer Johnson

Public Present: 6 residents in person

3 Public Comments:

· Joseph Rice – Shared concerns over the accident which killed his mother earlier this year. Traffic is heavy and fast. Would like crosswalk and/or something to make it safer.

· Lena Quervas – Northlake – Friend of family of woman killed in accident. Something needs to be done.

· Patricia Hudson – 515 N. Howard – Mother was killed in accident earlier this year at York and Diversey. Requesting a new survey of York and Diversey to make it safer for all.

· Pete DiCiannni – 753 Fairfield – Advocated for traffic signal previously as risk was well documented three years ago at York and Diversey.

· Rosa Carmona – Bensenville Trustee – Safety should be #1 priority. Asking the City to do something.

· Michael Rice – Wood Dale – Asking for a RRFB at York and Diversey.

4. Receipt of Written Communications: 1-regarding mosquito contract.

5. Business Before the Committee:

A. Minutes of the January 22, 2024, Public Works & Building Committee:

Ald. Bram motioned to approve the January 22, 2024 Minutes of the Public Works & Building Committee minutes; Ald. Sienko seconded. Voice vote. Motion carried 4-0 (Bastedo (Remote), Cahill, Bram and Sienko). Minutes approved. 

B. 2024-2026 Environmental Mosquito Management (EarthRight) Program:

Asst. Public Works Director Tiberi presented the agenda item. Ald. Bram motioned to approve the draft report, Ald. Sienko seconded Voice vote. Motion carried 4-0 (Bastedo (Remote), Cahill, Bram and Sienko). Report approved.

C. Northwest Elmhurst Roadways Reconstruction – Phase II Design Engineering Services:

Asst. City Manager/City Engineer Johnson presented the agenda item. He reviewed the project and the proposal from Bravo Company. Ald. Bram motioned to approve the draft report, Ald. Sienko seconded Voice vote. Motion carried 4-0 (Bastedo (Remote), Cahill, Bram and Sienko). Report approved.

D. 2024 Contract Paving Program – Bids:

Asst. City Manager/City Engineer Johnson presented the agenda item. He reviewed the project, low bids and noted locations on the map. Ald. Sienko motioned to approve the draft report, Ald. Bram seconded Voice vote. Motion carried 4-0 (Bastedo (Remote), Cahill, Bram and Sienko). Report approved.

E. Fuel Island Improvements:

Asst. Public Works Director Tiberi presented the agenda item. Ald. Sienko motioned to approve the draft report, Ald. Bram seconded Voice vote. Motion carried 4-0 (Bastedo (Remote), Cahill, Bram and Sienko). Report approved.

6. Other Business:   None
