City of Elmhurst City Council met Jan. 16.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

1. Call to Order - Mayor Levin called the meeting to order at 7:33pm.

 4. Announcements

Alderman Irby announced program Light on Engergy Efficiency at the Elmhurst Public Library on Feb 6th, 7-8:30pm.

Clerk Tamer announced the Youth Commission Job and Volunteer Fair at York Wednesday, March 13, 3:05-6pm. Businesses and organizations may sign up on the city website. Also, the commission is now accepting nominations for the Exemplary Youth Service Awards. Information on the city website.

Alderman Bram inquired about garbage pickup that was missed for some residents due to the storm from the previous Friday. City Manager Grabowski spoke with Republic and pickup will continue Wednesday, Jan 17th with eight additional trucks.

Alderman Nardini congratulated Avery Orel, York junior student, for her essay in winning at the national Democracy Scholarship Contest. She was acknowledged at the VFW post 2801 annual banquet.

Alderman Deuter moved to accept the consent agenda. Alderman Jensen seconded.

6. Reports and Recommendations of Appointed and Elected Officials

6.1 Mayor Levin - The Mayor announced an electronic and textile recycling event on Saturday January 27th. On Thursday, January 18th, the annual City of Elmhurst Mayoral Address with be at the Community Bank of Elmhurst, 7:30am. The Mayor also thanked the Public Works Dept. for their hard work over the past weekend with the snow and cold. Congratulations to Kent Johnson, the city's new Assistant City Manager.

6.2 City Manager Grabowski - City Manager thanked the city's government affairs rep of ComEd during the outages of the storm the past weekend. He also updated council of the garbage collection issue and Nicor issues from the storm. He encouraged residents to sign up for Everbridge, which is the Elmhurst Alert, to get pertinent and timely city news information.

7. Resolutions

7.1 R-04-2024 - A Resolution Approving and Authorizing the Execution of a Professional Architectural and Design Engineering Services Agreement by and Between WBK Engineering, LLC and the City of Elmhurst for the Elmhurst History Museum Public Performance Space Project (See Item 5.15)

Alderman Bastedo moved to accept the resolution.  Alderman Cahill seconded.  Alderman Bastedo spoke in support of the resolution and requesting council to suspend the rules so design work can begin immediately to be ready for construction when the weather breaks.

9. Adjournment - Alderman Hill moved to adjourn the meeting. Alderman Brennan seconded.  A voice vote was taken. Motion passed unanimously.
