Illinois State Senate District 25 candidate Heather Brown has taken a strong stance against antisemitism, particularly in the context of her opponent State Sen. Karina Villa’s response to the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israeli civilians. Villa, along with 15 Democrat colleagues, signed a letter attributing the Hamas attack to “inequality.”

“What side are you on? Remember what they said within 24 hours after the attack on innocent civilians!” Brown said on Facebook. “Pro-Hamas names photo one, Heather Brown against antisemitism.”

The aforementioned letter was signed by Villa and 15 Democratic colleagues. It attributed the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israeli civilians to "inequality." The DuPage Policy Journal reported that Safe Suburbs USA PAC criticized the letter for allegedly overlooking the atrocities committed by Hamas against ordinary Israelis. Don Tracy, Illinois GOP Chairman, strongly condemned the signatories and referred to the Hamas attack as an "evil atrocity." He also urged disavowal of the statement.

Brown serves as an Independent Alderman of West Chicago and is recognized for her seven-year tenure and ability to bridge political divides. She is known for consistently voting "No" on levies, demonstrating a commitment to fiscal conservatism. Her principled stance extends beyond fiscal matters; she opposes water rate increases, reflecting a dedication to responsible financial decisions that prioritize community well-being. According to Brown herself, she will ensure that "Illinois stays safe" and "voices are heard."

State Senate District 25 is currently represented by State Sen. Karina Villa (D-West Chicago). The district includes all or parts of Aurora, North Aurora, Batavia, West Chicago, South Elgin, Wayne and Bartlett. Villa is seeking reelection to the State Senate to represent District 25, as reported by Ballotpedia.
