Illinois State Senate District 25 candidate Heather Brown, who recently attended an event by Naperville Township Republican Organization, advocates for change and freedom. She expressed her commitment and call for action on local and statewide issues in a Facebook post.

“Was a pleasure at the Naperville Township Republican Organization to hear the presentation and the problems we all seem to face in our daily lives; not simply with our current staff in Illinois, but also our Government in D.C. by the Convention of States,” Brown said on Facebook.

“Always remember how our country was founded. Yes, we have made some significant and wonderful changes within. Though, every other Bill passed, in some way consistently takes away We the People’s rights and Freedom! We must stand up to tyranny and the chaos that is constantly threatening our livelihood. The constant fear mongering into submission needs to end. Common sense and our rights as Americans needs to be heard!”

“Vote for Change! Vote for Freedom! Vote for common sense for our children and future generations! Vote for a neighbor that is listening to your voices!”

The Convention of States Action is an organization focused on building a political network across all 50 states. Their goal is to recruit at least 100 citizens in every state legislative district to ensure successful amendment ratification.

According to their pocket guide, they have devised a two-part plan aimed at advocating for state legislators' empowerment to call a Convention of States. They aim to gain support from 34 states to pass resolutions calling for a convention with a focus on imposing fiscal restraints, limiting federal government power and jurisdiction, and establishing term limits for officials and members of Congress.

The Convention of States encourages citizens' active participation in local governance. It urges them to support candidates who share their values and join grassroots organizations like themselves that advocate returning to constitutional government. On its website, the Convention of States posed questions about individual action following awareness of surrounding issues.

"After you find out what is going on around you, what is your next step?"

The organization further encouraged active community engagement.

“Now is the time to use your newfound awareness to take action. It is now time to get off the couch and engage with your community. Look into attending school board meetings to identify critical race theory, social and emotional learning, or teaching and counseling that promotes gender awareness or sexual theories targeting children too young to understand. Ensure they firmly entrench schools in education, not indoctrination.”

Brown has served as an Independent Alderman for the City of West Chicago for seven years. According to her campaign website, she has earned a reputation for bridging political divides and working effectively with individuals from both sides of the political spectrum. Her experience has sharpened her skills in navigating local governance complexities while remaining a vocal advocate for people's concerns.

A notable aspect of Brown’s record is her consistent stance on financial matters. She is known as the only Alderman to consistently vote "No" on every proposed levy, demonstrating a commitment to fiscal conservatism. This position aligns with her dedication to ensuring responsible and transparent handling of taxpayers’ money.

Additionally, Brown has been the sole Alderman voting against water rate increases, reflecting her commitment to protecting residents from unnecessary financial burdens. In economically challenging times, she advocates fiscal responsibility and prudent financial decisions that prioritize community well-being.

The State Senate District 25 is currently represented by State Sen. Karina Villa (D-West Chicago). The district includes all or parts of Aurora, North Aurora, Batavia, West Chicago, South Elgin, Wayne and Bartavia according to the map available on Villa’s website.
