Niki Conforti, the Republican candidate for Illinois’ 6th District, announced a significant achievement in her campaign as she took to Facebook to share the news of filing her nominating petitions in Springfield. This step marks a crucial phase of Conforti's journey towards representing her constituents at the federal level.
“Filed!” Conforti exclaimed on Facebook.
“It’s official. With more than 3x what was needed and close to 2,000 signatures, I filed my nominating petitions in Springfield to represent US Congressional District 6 as the Republican candidate in the General Election next November!”
“It’s time for our kind of change!”
“Join me, stand up, and let’s defend our rights and the greatness of America!”
Commencing on Sept. 5, candidates across Illinois began the process of gathering signatures for the March 19 primary ballot. The State of Illinois has set a deadline for candidate petitions to be submitted to the County Clerk between Monday, Nov. 27 at 8 am and the final day for submissions, which is Monday, Dec. 4, at 5 pm. Petitions can be delivered either in person or through the mail, according to the 2024 Candidates Guide released by the Illinois State Board of Elections.
in addition to local contests, the March 19 primary will play a crucial role in determining the presidential nominees for both the Democratic and Republican parties in Illinois, according to WTTW. The primary will also see the election of delegates for the parties’ conventions scheduled for August, making Conforti’s decisive filing a noteworthy development in the broader electoral landscape.
The 6th Congressional District, which is currently held by U.S. Rep. Sean Casten (D-IL), includes parts of Cook County, eastern DuPage County and the far Southwest Side of Chicago.
