Illinois State Representative District 82 candidate Nicole La Ha Zwiercan is expressing her gratitude to those who helped her campaign receive the number of signatures required for her petition to appear on the March 19 primary ballot. The process commenced in September with candidates throughout Illinois starting their broader election season.

“Smiling faces after we hit 1500 signatures!” La Ha Zwiercan said on Facebook. “Thank you to my team of family and friends who helped us get there… especially Mark and Rob - you are SUPERSTARS!”

“Thank you Downers Grove Township Republican Organization, Lyons Township, Village of Homer Glen Mayor Christina Neitzke-Troike, who knocked on doors personally along with Homer Glen PC Christina C and Village of Lemont!”

“We are so grateful!!!”

Commencing on Sept. 5, candidates throughout Illinois initiated the broader election season by gathering signatures for the March 19 primary ballot. According to stipulations by the State of Illinois, candidate petitions must be submitted to the County Clerk between Monday, Nov. 27 at 8 am, and Monday, Dec. 4, at 5 pm. Petitions can be delivered either in person or through the mail.

Alongside local contests, March 19 primary voters in the state will select presidential nominees for both the Democratic and Republican parties, as well as in electing delegates for the parties’ conventions scheduled for August.

House District 82 is currently represented by State Rep. John Egofske (R-Lemont) who also serves as Mayor of Lemont. Egofske was appointed to the seat following former House Minority Leader Jim Durkin’s resignation. District 82 covers Darien and Lemont in DuPage and Cook counties, according to the district map.
