The event will feature an interactive shooting simulator, allowing participants to test their marksmanship skills in a controlled and safe environment. Certified weapons instructors will be present on-site, providing guests with an opportunity to engage in informative conversations about firearms.

Awake Americans is also getting out the word on behalf of Bevis and Law Weapons.

“You're invited to a family-friendly open house fundraiser supporting Robert Bevis, owner of Law Weapons Enjoy BBQ food, raffle prizes, and music from 11am-3:00pm on Sunday, August 13th at Law Weapons in Naperville. Raffle winners need not be present to claim prizes. RSVP helpful but not required,” Awake Americans said on its website in support of the event.

Bevis and Law Weapons have set a goal of $100,000 to support the case looking to overturn Naperville’s gun and magazine ban which reflects a larger ban in put in place by the state.

“We will take it to the Supreme Court and not stop until this law is changed. Naperville violated our rights, and we will not stand for it,” Law Weapons posted on fundraising platform GiveSendGo.

The Naperville City Council in August 2022 voted 8-1 to amend the city code to prohibit the sale of assault rifles effective Jan. 1. The National Association for Gun Rights amended its lawsuit against the municipality to include the state which passed its own ban in early January. The law bans over 170 types of firearms. As many as 5 million firearms and 10 million magazines in the state have been banned under the law, according to The Center Square.

Bevis’s lawsuit versus Naperville was launched after the municipality’s gun ban ordinance.

“Naperville’s ban on assault rifle sales is in limbo until a federal judge decides if can go into effect or should be shelved until the legal challenge from Bevis and the gun rights group is decided in court. In a Dec. 9 order, the city agreed not to enforce the ordinance until U.S. District Judge Virginia Kendall issues a ruling,” the Chicago Tribune wrote at the time.
