Chief Pappas on officers' promotions: 'This is going to ensure a successful succession plan'

Three officers of The Village of Glendale Heights police department were promoted at the Jan. 5 meeting of the village board. Chief Georges Pappas introduced each of the officers who would be taking higher positions due to the retirement of a Deputy Chief Dave Bailey.

“This is going to ensure a successful succession plan for our police department's future. We're going to be recognizing Dave Bailey's retirement at the Feb. 2 board meeting," Bailey said. "First, I want to acknowledge our police family, which is here today, to support our officers for this promotion. That includes both active and retired police officers. We have a great family here, and that's something we are proud of and that's why we are the best police department in the state of Illinois."

Michael Pentacost was promoted from commander to deputy chief. Pentecost started with the department in 2000 and since then has been detective on two different assignments, he has been a member of the DuPage County major crimes task force, is the department’s expert on use of force and training officers in proper procedures.

Sgt. Brad Malloy was promoted to the rank of commander, which oversees all the commanding sergeants. Malloy started with the department in 2002 and became a detective, a certified homicide investigator, and Internet Crimes against Children task force member. He became patrol sergeant in 2018 and also became the firearms range master. In 2022 he was put in charge of the investigations department.

Officer Michael Noe was promoted to the rank of sergeant. Noe started with the department in 2014, being promoted to the investigations unit in 2017. He is a certified homicide investigator and a member of the Internet Crimes against Children Task Force. He has won numerous awards and recognitions in his career, including a Division Meritorious Award.
