The superintendent of the Pleasantdale School District recently thanked the school board for all its hard work.

During the Nov. 16 board of education meeting, Superintendent Dr. Dave Palzet thanked the members of the school board for their dedication to the school district. He gave each of the seven board members a set of gifts in honor of Board Member Appreciation Day, which is Nov. 15 in the state of Illinois, to show appreciation to all the hours the board volunteers.

"Our Board of Education serves on a volunteer basis and does so for the betterment of our community," Palzet said. "We have some student work to present to you, to thank you for the selfless work that you do for our community. We also have a few treats to show our appreciation on behalf of the children and families across the district 107."

The set of gifts were from students of all ages in the district. The middle school art classes handmade epoxy coasters with ink drops for each of the board members. STEM classes made personalized 3D printed items like pen holders, name plates, Post-it holders and things for the office. The elementary art club made mugs for the board members with the district logo.

The school board was also able to celebrate the results of the Illinois State Report card during its meeting as the middle school was given a designation of commendable, meaning no subgroups were underperforming, and the elementary school was designated as exemplary, meaning it is one of the top 10% of schools in the state.
