Jeffrey Howard, principal of Lisle High School, recognized two seniors, one of whom was unable to attend the school board meeting, for their impressive PSAT scores.
"It is our honor this evening to acknowledge the outstanding accomplishments of two Lisle High School seniors," Howard said.
Senior Anna Gregoriev has been recognized as a National Semifinalist based on her index scores in critical reading, writing, and math, and will go on to compete for the position of finalist. The competitions will begin in April of 2023 and winners will be announced in July.
Senior Ava Miles has been named by the College Board as a recipient of the National African-American Recognition Award, an award given to the top 10% of the PSAT based on state levels. Miles qualified based on her PSAT scores, by having at least a 3.5 GPA, and identifying as African American or Hispanic.
Each year, juniors across the nation take the PSAT as the National Merit Scholarship qualifier, with around 16,000 being chosen as semifinalists and 7,500 achieving the title of National Merit Scholars who will receive a total of $30 million in scholarships.
