A group of Republican candidates is holding a meet and greet in Darien prior to the June 28 primary.

The event will be held on June 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. at 1516 Darien Club Drive in Darien. Attendees are asked to RSVP by calling 630-235-5590.

“LAW & ORDER CANDIDATES who SUPPORT EDUCATION and PARENTS RIGHTS • ROB CRUZ, 6th Congressional • MATT DUBIEL, US Senate • PETER DiCianni, DuPage County Chairman • TERRY NEWSOME, Precinct Committeemen District 141,” a flyer promoting the event reads.

Illinois 6th Congressional candidate Rob Cruz has been vocal about the state’s gas taxes amid soaring oil prices in recent months.

“On the gas tax, even though it's a state issue at that level, the Federal House of Representatives can take the lead and create legislation that we would want to get fair trade and create energy independence so that these things can decline,” Cruz told South Cook News

Cruz was removed from the Oak Lawn District 229 school board in January when his fellow board members vacated his seat. Cruz was booted off the board after going against the majority and challenging Gov. J.B. Pritzker's mask mandate in school that was later ruled unconstitutional by two courts. The board  accused Cruz of creating a conflict of interest when he sued his own district.

Dubiel is running for U.S. Senate. He recently called for an investigation into Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

“Fauci for sure has to be investigated and the other one just sounds like an F and that's Pfizer,” Dubiel said in an interview on WJOB, DuPage Policy Journal previously reported. “So does Pritzker and Lightfoot because they were all colluding to contain, we the people, and you don't quarantine, and you don't test healthy people. I know that we've gotten into this sort of apartheid with masks where it's like you got a pro-mask and an anti-mask and pro-vax and anti-vax.”

Newsome is a candidate for Precinct Committeemen District 141. He is a local parent who has mounted a fight against what he and other parents in Downers Grove 99 school district deem objectionable material in schools.

Newsome was also outspoken over masking in schools, calling the mandate illegal.
