District 88 families have until Feb. 28 to finalize course selections for the 2022-23 school year
Attention, District 88 families – course registration for the 2022-23 school year is nearly final!Students have worked with their counselors to select classes for next year, and a list with that information has been sent to families for review. If any changes are needed, families can contact the Guidance/Counseling Department by Feb. 28.

Below are important reminders regarding the course selection process:
- Students should consider their future college/career choices when selecting courses.
- Students need to be enrolled in at least six periods, plus a lunch.
- Schedules are computer generated, so counselors are unable to confirm a specific schedule.
- A parent/guardian must review course selections in PowerSchool.
- Support classes are beneficial for students who need academic support during the day or for students involved in extracurricular activities who need study or academic support time during the school day.
- Students are encouraged to speak with their teachers in subjects of interest about future courses.
- Naviance is a great tool to assist with the college/career process and to examine course sequence, which can assist students during course selection.
District 88 class of 2022 students and families invited to attend College Financial Aid Appeal Webinar
On March 1, My College Planning Team will host a free Zoom webinar for the class of 2022 and their families.The event will begin at 6 p.m. and will teach students and their parents/guardians how to appeal for more college financial aid – even after they receive their award letter – and how to improve the likelihood of a successful appeal. The keynote speaker will be nationally recognized college appeals specialist Dr. Mark Salisbury.

Eye on Education: Discover the benefits of the Project Hire-Ed Apprenticeship Program
The Eye on Education section of the newsletter highlights an education-oriented article or topic. The goal is to provide an outside perspective and more information to continue to educate parents/guardians, students, staff members and community members to improve the educational learning environment of District 88.This week’s topic is the Project Hire-Ed Apprenticeship Program, which focuses on building a bridge between workforce needs and education to help employers find the right talent for their organizations and to teach students the skills employers are seeking.

Addison Trail is committed to providing opportunities to help students succeed and build positive futures.As part of that focus, the Guidance Department shares important information regarding summer school registration. Summer school classes help students earn credit to stay on track for graduation, as well as provide an opportunity for students to get ahead with graduation requirements. See details below.
When: 8 a.m. to noon from June 6 to 30 (Monday through Thursday)

Addison Trail hosts State send-off celebration for member of the Wrestling Team
On Feb. 16, Addison Trail hosted a State send-off celebration for junior Seth Skamra (pictured at right), who will compete in the 182-pound division during the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Boys Wrestling State Tournament.That event takes place from Feb. 17 to 19 at State Farm Center in Champaign.
Addison Trail to host annual POPS Concert
On Feb. 19, the Addison Trail Music Department and Music Booster Club will host the school’s annual POPS Concert! See all the details below.What: The event will feature performances by Addison Trail’s band, choir, orchestra, jazz and guitar ensembles. There also will be dinner, raffles, a split-the-pot and a silent auction. Proceeds will benefit Addison Trail music students.
When: 6 to 9 p.m. on Feb. 19
Cost: Admission is $3 a person (admission for children younger than 5 years old is $1)

Willowbrook hosts three State send-off celebrations
On Feb. 16, Willowbrook hosted State send-off celebrations for the three student-athletes below.Senior Nick Mabutas
Mabutas (pictured at left) will compete in the 170-pound division during the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Boys Wrestling State Tournament. That event takes place from Feb. 17 to 19 at State Farm Center in Champaign.
Senior Issabella (Bella) Naumovsky
Naumovsky (pictured at center) will compete in the All-Around and on Vault, Bars and Beam during the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Girls Gymnastics State Meet. That event takes place on Feb. 18 and 19 at Palatine High School. Naumovsky also is a finalist for Senior Gymnast of the Year recognition.
Sophomore Jacquelyn Porro
Porro (pictured at right) will compete during the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Girls Bowling State Tournament. That event takes place on Feb. 18 and 19 at The Cherry Bowl in Rockford.

Willowbrook hosts spirit week to celebrate Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month
Each year, District 88 students save an average of $582,498 in college tuition by taking AP exams and dual-credit courses and earn more than 1,000 career certifications in culinary arts, automotive technology, preschool, child development, building trades, business, education programs and engineering/manufacturing through Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes. CTE prepares students for careers in areas such as information technology, manufacturing, hospitality, management, business, education, photography and more.February is CTE Month, a public awareness campaign that takes place annually to celebrate the value of CTE and the achievements of CTE programs throughout the U.S. For more information, go to https://www.acteonline.org/why-cte/cte-awareness/cte-month. From Feb. 14 to 18, Willowbrook hosted a spirit week to recognize this important initiative. Each day highlighted a different area of CTE, which can be viewed below, and students also had a chance to win prizes.
Willowbrook offers 45 CTE courses, and more than half of those classes qualify for free college credit and national certifications. The CTE Department is comprised of three specialty content areas – Business Education, Family and Consumer Sciences and Industry, Technology and Engineering.
