Firefighters Extinguish Dryer Fire in the 1900 Block of Lancaster Court

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — At 7:04 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a call for a dryer fire in a two-story multifamily residence located in the 1900 block of Lancaster Ct. The caller advised flames were coming out of the dryer and making their way up the wall. Two residents were home at the time. Both were able to safely evacuate prior to the fire department’s arrival.

Naperville PSAP dispatched a general alarm assignment consisting of 10 pieces of fire apparatus and 24 personnel, including an Incident Commander and Incident Safety Officer, to the reported address.

At 7:09 p.m., the first-arriving vehicle arrived on scene and discovered a working fire in the laundry room. Fire companies quickly stretched hose lines and conducted an aggressive interior attack.

At 7:16 p.m., the fire was deemed under control. Because of the quick actions of the crews, fire damage was limited to the laundry room.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police Department. Station backfill was provided by the Downers Grove Fire Department and the Darien-Woodridge Fire Protection District. Investigators determined the excessive buildup of lint was a factor in this fire.

There were no injuries to any occupants or firefighters while operating on scene. The building was deemed habitable by the Naperville Transportation, Engineering, and Development team. The blaze is estimated to have caused $2,500 in damages.
